The AfternoonTea.co.uk team were recently invited to the 5 star Sanderson Hotel in London to try out the new tipsy version of their hugely popular Mad Hatters Afternoon Tea, based on the famous Lewis Carroll novel, Alice in Wonderland.
The Sanderson has recently launched the Mad Hatter Tipsy Evening Tea which features savoury bites, alcohol infused cakes and a flight of four winter warmer cocktails - I can assure you, this is an experience not to be missed!
The hotel is located only steps from Oxford Street, in the heart of the West End, so it was the perfect spot for a late Afternoon Tea after a day out shopping, and would even make for a fabulous night out with a party of friends or family.
The hotel has a very contemporary feel to it, with delicate white curtains covering the walls of the ground floor, hanging chairs, and a red lip sofa in the entrance of the lobby area (which make the perfect photo opportunity!)
We were truly amazed when entering the Courtyard Garden where the Afternoon Tea was served, it's like an outdoor oasis with a lovely water feature and flowering trees. The staff where fantastic, making sure we were warm under the overhead heaters and providing us with cosy blankets that we snuggled into - it was hard to believe we were sitting outdoors in the middle of December!
We were first presented with a beautifully decorated silver tray containing four winter cocktails including a Mulled wine with a quirky twist, Mini Martinez with a candy floss cloud, our favourites where the Sanderson Hot Toddy which had a spicy taste to it and the Hatter Tea After Eight which came with Chantilly cream and an Afternoon Eight Chocolate.
Shortly after, the 3 tier Afternoon tea stand arrived and it's probably one of the best Afternoon Teas to look at (it tastes incredible too!) The Sanderson have gone all out with the Mad Hatters theme from the quirky crockery, to the White Rabbits pocket watch macaroon and Alice's 'drink me' potion.
As you can see, the Sanderson have given the Tipsy Tea a festive twist in celebration of the Christmas season. Our favourite 'Chritsmassy' treats where defiantly the marshmallow snowman and the chocolate fudge Yule log, not forgetting the roasted bronze Turkey and cranberry croque-monsier, so delicious we could of ate a whole tray of them!
To sum up it is a brilliant, amazing and unique experience which everyone should try, so don't delay book it today!
The Mad Hatters Festive Tipsy Tea is available until the 8th of January, please click here for more information. The Mad Hatters Evening Tea can be booked after Christmas, please click here for more information.
