Planning a busy day shopping in the West End? Why not treat yourself afterwards to Afternoon Tea served at Portrait Restaurant in the National Portrait Gallery.
Just a stone's throw from Covent Garden and Trafalgar Square, this relaxed yet elegant restaurant has one of the most enviable views in London. Here you can enjoy Afternoon Tea while looking out on Nelson in Trafalgar Square and across Whitehall to the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye.
The latest Afternoon tea menu is inspired by Picasso Portraits. It features delicious savoury items such as a tarragon chicken and grape broiche roll that can be enjoyed before indulging in delicious sweet fancies such as a blue Picasso eclair.
A wide selection of teas is offered from dynamic young London-based importer and blender My Cup of Tea; coffee comes from esteemed artisan roasters Union, UK pioneers of fair and direct coffee trading. Fancy a tipple? There's always a choice of seasonal bellinis and sparkling wines too. Visiting London from abroad? The Three Graces English fizz from Chapel Down in Kent is not to be missed.
Please note that the table will need to be returned by 5.30pm daily. The restaurant closes at 5.30pm Monday to Wednesday.
