Summer Lodge is a quintessentially English Country House Hotel, set in four acres of beautiful gardens in the heart of Thomas Hardy's Wessex. Formerly the dower house of the Earls of Ilchester, the house was extended in 1893 using Thomas Hardy as the architect.
For years, Summer Lodge has been renowned for it's Afternoon Teas. These can be enjoyed either in the Hardy designed Drawing Room surrounded by luxurious fabrics and works of art, or on the perfectly manicured lawns.
Your full Dorset Afternoon Tea includes a delicious array of home-made cakes, freshly baked scones with Dorset clotted cream, a selection of meringues and tartlets from our own patisserie, freshly prepared finger sandwiches, and, of course, a large choice of fine teas and coffees.
Summer Lodge was recently voted 'No.1 Hotel in The UK' and
No.2 in Europe in the Condé Nast Traveller Readers' Choice Awards
