Visit to Kensington Palace and Afternoon Tea for TwoRoyal Garden Hotel - Kensington

Kensington Palace encapsulates centuries of style. First adapted for royal residence in 1689 by Sir Christopher Wren, Kensington Palace has been host to the courts of William and Mary, Queen Anne, George I and George II. In more recent times the palace has been a much loved home for Princess Margaret and Diana, Princess of Wales, both of whom played a part in transforming Kensington into a fashionable royal residence..

To commemorate the 200th anniversary of Queen Victoria's birth, the luxurious Royal Garden Hotel has created a spectacular new themed Afternoon Tea.

Park Terrace not only offers breath-taking views of Kensington Gardens, but resides just next door to Kensington Palace, where Queen Victoria herself was born in 1819 and where the Queen Victoria Exhibition resides. Also a short walk from the Royal Albert Hall and the shops of Kensington High Street.

As you flick through the pages of their red leather menu, in style of Victoria's scrapbook, you will discover more about her relationship with food and how their Afternoon Tea celebrates her adventurous appetite in life.

What happens on the day?

Explore five narrated routes to discover the secret stories and public lives of the people of Kensington Palace, including the new permanent exhibition 'Victoria Revealed'.

Inspired by the Queen's own journals, and featuring displays of personal objects in the rooms where she once lived, Victoria Revealed gives an intimate account of Victoria's extraordinary life. Master the games of Royal Court in the magnificent King's State Apartments and uncover the secrets of a fragile dynasty in the beautiful Queen's State Apartments.

Opening on the 4th July 2013 'Fashion Rules' is a brand new two year exhibition of the history of the monarchy in the twentieth century featuring rare and exquisite dresses from HM Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret and Diana Princess of Wales. This colourful and exuberant exhibition will provide a feast for the eyes and a nostalgic glance back at recent decades.

Your visit also includes a full Afternoon Tea in the nearby 5* Royal Garden Hotel, overlooking the Palace and grounds. The resident pianist will add further enjoyment by playing live music Tuesday to Friday from 15.30 to 18.30 and on Saturdays and Sundays from 14.30 to 17.30.
