The Petersham, in the heart of Covent Garden is serving La Merenda, an Afternoon Tea inspired by the café culture of Turin. Drawing on the Boglione family’s Piedmontese heritage, the menu combines the quintessential British afternoon tea with the vibrant flavours and delicious produce of Italy.

The Boglione family have created a business that inspires, celebrates and shares exceptional knowledge, passion and creativity. This has naturally evolved from their personal passion into a thriving business. In turn they have established a culture and raised a ‘Petersham’ family of likeminded individuals who share their lifelong passion for organic gardening, culinary excellence, ethical and sustainable sourcing, as well as drawing out beauty in the simplest of things.

Guests can settle into the grandeur of The Petersham’s high-ceilinged dining room, filled with Murano glassware and contemporary art, with a glass of Champagne as they read through the menu.

La Merenda begins with tramezzini, small sandwiches prepared with soft white milk bread, invented in Turin in the 1920s as an alternative to English tea sandwiches.

Lorenzo Gagliradi, the executive chef at Petersham Nurseries, will be serving puff pastry pizzette, which are meticulously garnished with fresh seasonal ingredients from the like tomato, anchovies, capers, and briny olives; or asparagus, smoky scamorza cheese, and lemon. 

Lastly for the dolci, a variety of sweet delights that draw inspiration from Turin's standing as one of Italy's capitals of chocolate and traditional desserts. In addition to tea, guests at The Petersham can choose from an assortment of hot beverages that are inspired by the coffee shops of Turin.
