About
Enjoy Tower Bridge Afternoon Tea at The Dixon Hotel, served in either the Courtroom Bar or Shakedown Bar & Restaurant.
Shakedown Restaurant is an Italian inspired restaurant, which takes reference from the area surrounding Tower Bridge, highlighting its cultural heritage; this mix of modern design with contemporary finishes has ensured that the restaurant is a stylish space that is welcoming and relaxed located a stone’s throw away from Tower Bridge.
With a backdrop building offering history dating back to 1905, the stunning Courtroom Bar is located within the same walls as the old Tower Bridge Magistrates Court, where London’s infamous ex-cons were sentenced for their crimes. This famous Magistrates Court has been beautifully converted into one of the best bars around Tower Bridge. An experience like no other, lose yourself within this historical world of law and order, with striking mugshots scattered across the walls, surviving wood panelling remains, a 193 spheres chandelier and a marble-clad sunken bar sitting beneath the judge’s original oak canopy.
Their Tower Bridge Afternoon Tea starts with an Award – Winning Louis Pommery English Sparkling Wine* and a selection of delicate handmade sandwiches on freshly baked bread, followed by warm and crumbly plain and fruit scones served with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. The final course is a delicious assortment of seasonal French pastries and fancies.
A Grade II-listed building with original Edwardian architecture, The Dixon is steeped in history but inspired by the contemporary character and culture of its vibrant neighbourhood. Modern European design and British industrial designers were key influences for the creation of Shakedown Bar & Restaurant; specifically, the interiors are inspired by modern design movements, and what a designer’s studio or home might look like if visitors were allowed inside.
