Review: Blamtastic BEANO Afternoon Tea Bus Tour

by The AfternoonTea.co.uk Team

If you're a fan of the Beano comics or just enjoy a good old-fashioned Afternoon Tea, this tour is a must-try!

Decked out in vibrant Beano-themed decorations, the bus was impossible to miss! The interior was equally exciting, with colourful seats, Beano memorabilia, and even comics on the tables. It was like stepping into a comic book wonderland.

The tour started off with a friendly and enthusiastic guide who gave us a quick introduction to the Beano universe. As we embarked on our journey through the streets of London, the guide entertained us with interesting tidbits about the characters, their adventures, and the history of the comics. It was informative without being too heavy, and I loved how the guide's passion for the Beano shone through.

Cruising through the capital, we indulged in the Afternoon Tea itself. The selection of sandwiches, scones, and pastries was fun and catered to please both big and little kids alike. The savoury selection included a mini margarita pizza, served warm, alongside traditional turkey ham and cheese and cream cheese and cucumber sandwiches.

They even managed to incorporate some Beano-themed treats, which added an extra layer of fun to the experience. Everything was fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. From the mischievous Dennis the Menace red and black macarons to the Gnasher-inspired bone cookie, every sweet treat was a delightful homage to the Beano universe. Accompanying the food was a wide range of fine teas, coffees and juices, ensuring that every guest's beverage preferences were catered to. You are even gifted the themed flask as a souvenir of your experience.

What made the Beano Afternoon Tea Bus Tour truly unique was the combination of sightseeing and indulgence. As we munched on our treats and sipped our tea, we got to enjoy some of London's iconic landmarks such as Trafalgar Square and Big Ben passing by our window. It was a lovely way to soak in the city's beauty while satisfying our taste buds. Just when you think nothing more can be sqeueezed in, towards the end of the tour you are served a warm chocolate scone with a portion of clotted cream and strawberry jam – after all no Afternoon Tea would be complete with out the scones!

The atmosphere on the bus was infectious. The staff were friendly, attentive, and clearly passionate about providing a memorable experience. The whole tour had a lighthearted and playful vibe that had everyone smiling and laughing throughout. There were games and opportunities to draw Dennis the Menace and his mischievous companions on white boards whilst being driven around and there are also a few practical jokes placed on the tour to keep an eye out for! A farting machine caused some red faces but also be aware of spiders and chattering teeth that may appear on your table!

It's a delightful blend of nostalgia, good food, and sightseeing that is perfect for Beano enthusiasts and afternoon tea lovers alike. Whether you're a kid at heart or simply looking for a unique way to spend an afternoon in London, this tour is a real treat.
