Afternoon Tea Awards 2026 - 'Award of Excellence'
About
Launching 8th September on World Literacy Day.
At Hotel Café Royal, London’s literary greats have long gathered. Oscar Wilde was a devoted diner and wit, Virginia Woolf observed fellow patrons with a novelist’s eye, while John le Carré joined the Detection Club of crime writers at its candlelit meetings.
Inspired by their worlds, this tea brings three notable stories to the table through pâtisserie: Woolf’s flower-adorned hat recalls Mrs Dalloway preparing for her party; Wilde’s gilded plum creation evokes the beguiling surface and dark heart of The Picture of Dorian Gray; while le Carré’s takes the form of a classified document straight out of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. A final cake brings all three together, designed to be shared.
This menu is available from 8th September until 4th November.
The historic Hotel Café Royal in the West End is home of award-winning Afternoon Tea on Regent Street. The grand hotel offers Londoners and visitors to the city the perfect spot for a special occasion or simply to indulge for an afternoon.
