About
In keeping with tradition, Afternoon Tea is the highlight of every day. Each afternoon we serve an array of housemade cakes, scones and sandwiches.
The menu at The Star showcases simple modern British cooking with an Italian influence, using the best seasonal Sussex produce. Indulge in seasonal patiserrie and warm plain and fruit scones baked throughout the day, served with Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve.
The 15th century front of the hotel, known as The Inn, is dog-friendly, and opens on to the High Street, offering a relaxed Afternoon Tea, which can be paired with wines, creative cocktails and local beers, against the backdrop of oak beams and open fires, creating a cosy atmosphere.
Afternoon Tea is served in The Library, a peaceful retreat with wall-to-wall bookshelves filled with poetry, short stories and novels by British authors, curated by Much Ado Books; here guests can also enjoy a drink, play a board game, or borrow a book to read.
The Star also boasts a Courtyard & Walled Garden, perfect for warm weather dining. This pretty outdoor space has a Mediterranean feel, with lots of terracotta pots, climbing plants, flint walls and pleached laurels.
