About

To celebrate Charlie Mackesy’s new book, Always Remember: The Boy the Mole, the Fox, the Horse and the Storm, will see the much-loved British illustrator hosting this one-off event on 9th March 2026.

British artist, illustrator and author Charlie Mackesy - who is a big fan of Fortnum’s and even described us as the “cake capital of the world” - began his career as a cartoonist, before becoming a book illustrator. His award-winning work has been featured in books, galleries, school classrooms, hospital wards, prisons and public spaces around the world.

His first book, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse was published in October 2019 and has now reached over 10 million readers around the world. The event will take place in the Drawing Room on the Fourth Floor of our Piccadilly home, where a sit-down Afternoon Tea will be served for guests to enjoy throughout the session.

Charlie will be live drawing some of his beloved characters from the book, which will be streamed onto the screen, for guests to draw along with. All materials will be provided and there will be the opportunity for guests to have books signed at the end of the session.
